He walked through Macaulay street under the mid-day sun, completely tired and drained of all energy. His throat was parched and dried out and all his muscles ached deeply. The game today was nice and he scored 2 goals and this pleased him greatly. Anthony enjoyed playing football with his friends everyday as there was nothing else to do with time which he seemed to have so much of. This was his second year at home after secondary school as he failed this year’s JAMB exam and he was not quite sure what he wanted in life anymore. Some days were good and he was able to watch TV or read a comic book, but there were other days that he was listless and devoid of spirit.”
It is said that a crisis of purpose is often a symptom of isolation. When you are on a path, you are more likely to find others tolling down that same line.
How do I find purpose?
There’s no hard and fast way to finding purpose, but a few suggestions can be found below:
1. Read: Read far and wide. Reading takes you to places you have never been and gives you an insight into other people’s lives and how they lived (Not all books though). It helps you find purpose and connect with the experience of the characters. Reading also broadens your mind, makes you appreciate the simpler things needed to find one is purpose.
2. Meditate; Take sometime out of the monotonous schedule to just find a quiet peaceful place and just meditate, think about what it is you are good at and how you can get to make it something practical.
Anthony for instance, could be extremely successful in a footballing career. Purpose can be found even in the littlest of things.
3. Seek inspiration; Youtube has thousands (if not millions) of inspirational talks on how to discover ones self and purpose. Maybe take a look and find which one works for you. Youll never know *wink*.
These are just a few shared ideas, there are so many ways to find purpose and mind you…. you can find more than one purpose for your life. But we hope these ideas push you to find others even as you practice them. Thanks for reading!!
